On Saturday, 26 May – Shabbat Naso – Rabbi Jason Holtz led his last Shabbat morning service at the synagogue before his departure with his family to a new post in Atlanta, Georgia. The service was well attended and the Rabbi gave a most interesting sermon about dreams – those of his favourite Biblical character, Joseph, of Joseph’s father Jacob, and those of the founders of Bromley Reform, first of a Cheder to avoid the long journey each week to West London, and then eventually of a synagogue, which has developed into what we see In Bromley today.

The service was followed by a lavish Kiddush in the Garden Room at which presentations were made, firstly by Pauline Jeffree on behalf of the Caring Community, and then by Barbara Kurtz on behalf of the whole congregation. The gifts included the metal nameplate unscrewed from the front of the synagogue bearing the Rabbi’s name. Our Chairman, John Posner, also made a short speech praising the Rabbi for all he had done during the past five years and wishing him well in his new post.
